U.S. Marines Leave Iraq – Finally!

The Associated Press reported today that the U.S. Marines have finally handed over their responsibilities in Iraq to the U.S. Army. This marks the end to almost seven years of blood and sweat for the Marines in that region. Being a Marine myself, I am sure glad this chapter in our history is over. Iraq is not the place we needed to spend so much of our resources and manpower. But nonetheless, we did go in there and accomplish everything that we needed to accomplish to ensure that Iraq become a safer place for the people that inhabit the country. I would say “on to the next,” but it’s more like “on to the previous!” Operation Enduring Freedom is still going strong and Osama Bin Laden is still on the loose. We should never have divided our forces in the first place. It’s all good now…Afghanistan, here we come!
